Midwives in Obama's home state call for rally

Does it cheese you off when special interest groups throw around their weight to manipulate public policy? Do something about it!  That's just what the AMA is doing trying to do right now, and Illinois midwife advocates aren't going to stand for it.

Stand up with the women of Illinois and demand a full range of birth options on January 12 and 13, 2009 in Springfield, Illinois at the state capitol See homebirthishealthydotorg.blogspot.com for more info.

Joe the Plumber ISN'T

As reported in today's New York Times, the so-called plumber made famous in the third presidential debate, by John McCain's constant references to him, ISN'T a licensed plumber at all!

(Hit stop on my Sarah Palin Tribute if you'd like to view a video -------------->)

And to make matters worse, Joe the (so-called) Plumber apparently really dislikes fulfilling his civic duty to pay taxes, since Samuel J. Wurzelbacher (<-- that's Joe the Plumber's real name) OWES BACK TAXES!

But wait ... there's MORE! I'll just quote the following from the NYTimes:

But if the plumbing business remained a two-person company and the net proceeds — after deductions for business expenses — were shared by the two men, both incomes would most likely fall well below the top tax brackets on which Mr. Obama wants to raise rates, as would the company itself.

One source that I want to double-check claims that, even if Joe the Plumber had a business that made 250,000, the tax rate would only go up 3%, so that would be an extra 7,500, not withstanding any loopholes that would surely save at least a little bit on taxes.

So, to recap:

1) Joe the plumber is NOT licensed plumber
2) Joe the Plumber owes back taxes, and
3) If Joe the Plumber co-owned the plumbing business with at least one other person, at the current business value, his income taxes would not go up under Obama's plan, and might even go down!

McCain continues racism and XENOPHOBIA!

Even though they spent nine long minutes talking in the third presidential debate about the negative campaigning, and Bob Schieffer asked if either candidate wanted to make any corrections or repeat their allegations directly to each other, McCain failed to man up and apologize for the despicable ads he "approves." McCain defended the racist bastards at his rallies who are yelling thinks like "Bomb Obama" and "Treason!" and "off with his head!" and "kill him!" How can McCain defend that?

(Be sure to hit stop on my Sarah Palin tribute to watch the videos --------->)

I'll post some videos, below that show how awful the McCain Palin supporters are. Some racist was seen carrying a doll into a McCain rally. It was a Curious George doll with an Obama bumper sticker wrapped around the monkey's head, and when asked, the man said it was "Little Hussein." (It's spelled  r-a-c-i-s-t  and no amount of lipstick and change that!)

I also do not believe that John McCain had the nerve to make a reference to the JFK assassination, implying Obama could be killed. It was almost as if he were calling for some madman to do it. We all know the 800 pound gorilla in the room is will McCain die of old age, and will Obama meet his demise in office? McCain was tasteless to go at it that directly.

What a sick man McCain is. How could anyone vote for him, or his little poodle from Alaska?

And now, on with the shew ....

Other musical tributes to Sara PALIN!

It turns out I'm not the only one to think of creating a musical tribute to Sarah Palin. Granted, my tribute, wasn't created by me; I merely selected a totally appropriate song, as is, and found a rippin' rendition that captured the feeling of Sarah.

Here are a a ton of video parodies, odes to Sarah Palin.

(but first hit stop on my tribute to Sarah Palin before you watch the vids -------->)

Respect your elders; vote for OBAMA!

(Hit stop on the Sarah Palin tribute to watch videos --------->)

I ran across one of these videos, and it prompted me to do a youtube search for Grandma Obama. I found a treasure trove of wisdom from these Wise Wymyn. Check out these rockin' Grandmas for Obama!

Most videos are just a few minutes long. Isn't our country, and our future, and our children's future worth a few minutes of your time? You bet! (Extra credit if you watch the incredibly funny but dirty Sarah Silverman video, the Great Schlep all the way at the bottom.)

Bubbe is 92 years young, and says,
"I pray that I will live to November 4, so that I can vote for [Obama]."

Obama slam dunks second DEBATE!

(Hit Pause or Stop if you'd like to watch one of the videos on this blog  ------------------------->)

I think Obama took the second debate handily, and here are the reasons I think why:

1) Obama continues to show he's more honest and sincere than McCain's arrogant out of touch lies;

2) Obama has about 1,000% more stamina, poise and grace, which we need as a nation in our leaders. The presidency is incredibly stressful, and it's obvious that McCain is not physically up to the job; and (this next one is the biggie)

3) Obama spent at least 6 or 7 minutes more than McCain shaking hands and taking pictures with the audience members who were literally clamoring to connect with him and get some snapshots of Barack and Michelle, while McCain must have needed to go retire since he cut out after just two minutes, or less, presumably to collapse due to the strain of being "on" for 93 minutes. If I can find a video clip of the Obama after-glow, I'll post it.

The rest of the debate was a wash and, according to the polls, doesn't really matter because America has already made up its mind that the right choice is Barack Obama, the next President of the United States of America!

What counts more in a debate? Good looks or responding to the questions?

I won't belabor the point. Palin looked great, but ....

In the Vice Presidential debate, Sarah Palin behaved like a teenager who read the dust cover and first chapter, but failed to finish the book she's giving a report on. Will America let Palin off the hook for her apparent inability to address the actual questions posed?

Many of Palin's responses were so disconnected from the questions put forth tonight, I kept expecting Gwen Ifill to tap on her mike and ask if it was actually working.

It's truly a shame (and sham) that the American public was robbed of a proper VP debate after the Commission agreed the sexist request of the McCain campaign to shorten the response times to accommodate Palin's ignorance. If Palin had been held to the normal standards of the big boys, her unreadiness would have been much more difficult to cover up.

Time will tell what most Americans think.

Why can't a journalism major name ONE newspaper or magazine?

This is amazing. If your B.S. radar doesn't start beeping wildly, then you're fooling yourself.

COURIC; When it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious ... what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this, to stay informed and to understand the world?

PALIN: I've read most of them,a gain, with a great appreciation for the press, for the media, coming ...

COURIC: But like, what ones, specifically, I'm curious, that you...

PALIN: Um, all uv' em. Any uv' em that, um, have - uh - been in front of me over all these years. Um...

COURIC: Can you name a few?

PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources, where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, it seems like, "wow! H-how could you keep i-in touch with the rest of Washington DC may be thinking and doing, when you live up there way in Alaksa?" Believe me, Alaska is a microcosm of America.

Wow. So much to comment on.

First and foremost. Why can't someone who has a bachelor's degree in journalism rattle off the names of a few newspapers and magazines? You know -- L.A. Times, Wallstreet Journal, Newsweek, London Times, U.S. News and World Report? I don't even claim to know enough to be Vice President of the U.S. and can name a few without even batting an eyelash!

Second, how, exactly, is Alaska a microcosm of America?

Alaska has the highest native American population -- nearly 1 in 5 compared with less than 1% for the rest of the nation),

With BY FAR the lowest population density in the nation -- Alaska has only 1.2 people per square mile, less than half of the next lowest densely populated state, Wyoming, which has 5.4 people per square mile. Compare with Kansas at 33.9 per square mile, or Colorado at 46.9 per square mile, or Kentucky at 106.8 people per square mile, or Florida at 338 people per square mile, or Ohio at 380 people per square mile. (According to Wikipedia, the U.S. average population density is 86.2 people per square mile.)

Alsaska has the lowest women:men ratio, and the highest rates of rape in the nation.

None of these things are meant to be good or bad (except the high rates of rape in Alaska so women start saving to pay for your rape kit in the hospital if Palin's policies extend beyond Alaska), but the one thing all this does is show that Palin was, once again, talking out of her ass.

I'd say Alaska is anything BUT a microcosm of the United States.

And Sarah Palin is woefully uninformed.

This country needs a President with sound judgment!

This is no joke!

I have three children that I want to keep safe. Their future depends on the next president.

Do we want a measured, intelligent approach to running our country in such a crucial point in history?

Or do we want a lying, "say anything to obscure the truth," man who's still acting out on his own feelings of failure in Vietnam?

Focus Groups Favor Obama

I can't believe FoxNews aired this! I guess they didn't have any control over what the independent panel of ordinary people said.

Do we really want a blustering bully for president?

FIRST DEBATE:

Obama = Grace under pressure, measured, thoughtful

McCain = Nervous bully, dry-mouthed, snarky, disrespectful

Barak Obama obviously won this debate in the minds of reasonable Americans who want an intelligent, reasonable, and clear-headed man who can steer us through these choppy waters. McCain, on the other hand, is obviously nothing more than a bully who recycles talking points that only foolish fall for. McCain was rude and failed to honor the debate agreements, choosing instead to bluster through both the moderator and his opponent, not what we need in a president!

McCain was not "feisty" in the debate; he was an asshole. Obama showed grace under pressure, when McCain showed a total lack of respect for the agreed-upon debate forum. Do we want someone who would bluster around the planet with his finger on the nuke button? McCain wasn't even able to look Obama in the eye -- the hallmark of a snively rat.

I, for one, want someone who can take a calm, precise assessment of the situation at hand and made a poised, cool and collected decision. That man is Obama!

Could McCain be any more OUT OF TOUCH???

FIRST AND FOREMOST: MCCAIN HAS DROPPED SEVEN POINTS IN THE POLLS!

I knew Palin was losing her fake shine!

It's almost embarrasing to witness the meltdown of McCain-Palin. Almost. Take today's (technically yesteray's) items:

1) Palin fumbles a question at a rally/town hall meeting, asking what her specific skill are in foreign policy. Basically, Palin blusters and stumbles through saying she's "confident" that she's "ready". (click here for video)

2) McCain confuses Spain's Prime Minister Zapatero (who withdrew from Iraq years ago), with Mexican leaders, drawing sharply into focus how unfit he really is to lead. McCain also continues to frame Venezuala & Bolivia as areas where the U.S. "neeeds to facilitate Democracy." That's flat-out frightening considering the last time we "facilitated democracy," more than 4,000 of our troops died, and thousands more lost limbs becoming para- and quadra-plegics! (go here for audio)

3) I'm sure you've already heard Palin's yahoo email was hacked, and she had official business on the un-secured account!

But the whopper granddaddy of them all for today ...

4) McCain shows his utter lack of respect for the common man while stumping at a GE plant in Detroit, MI. Isn't it ... um ... interesting how McCain calls mostly white crowds "my friends" and "you," but at this plant half-full of Obama supporters (many of them black), McCain talks about helping GE workers states, "I want to assure the workers here ... I want to assure THEM that THEY ..." in 3rd person. What the hell? Who's he talking to? The owners? It appears that he's supposed to be addressing the workers, themselves. Talk about out of touch!

Be sure to watch the first to watch the first 2:30 to hear the workers chant "Obama -- 0-8!" as John and Cindy leave the plant.

Fact-checking McCain's SLIME

In a desperate attempt to keep the American public from noticing all that's wrong about McCain, Palin, and their campaign, John McCain has launched more cluster bombs of lie-filled sleaze (otherwise known as attack ads).

Don't take my word for it, that these McCain ads are full of bullhockey! Visit FactCheck.org for a thorough analysis (or see my links below for a quick reference).

For those unfamiliar with this webiste, FactCheck.org is widely acknowledged as providing an impartial, accurate analysis of hot-button issues, especially claims asserted in political campaigns.

It's interesting to note, not only the much larger number of criticisms of McCain-Palin on FactCheck.org, but also the much stronger language and near condemnation of McCain's bold-faced lies compared with the smaller number and milder language used when they look at Obama's ads and speeches.

FactCheck.org seemed most offended by the misuse of their own website in a McCain ad, and took him to task stating, in a Sept 10, 2008 post titled "McCain-Palin Distorts Our Finding":

With its latest ad, released Sept. 10, the McCain-Palin campaign has altered our message in a fashion we consider less than honest. The ad strives to convey the message that FactCheck.org said "completely false" attacks on Gov. Sarah Palin had come from Sen. Barack Obama. We said no such thing. We have yet to dispute any claim from the Obama campaign about Palin. (emphasis mine)

By contrast, Factcheck.org found a much smaller number of twists or omissions coming from Obama's campaign and ads, and use milder description such as "stretching the truth."  Here too all the political posts on FactCheck.org since the conventions:

FACT CHECKING REPUBLICANS
Belitting Paline? -- a sharp look at the falsehoods in McCain's ad erroneously claiming Obama called Palin a pig w/lipstick.

Corsi's Dull Hatchet -- Completely rips to shreds a book mud-slinging Obama. This book should be reshelved in the Fiction section.

Energetically Wrong -- Explains how and why Palin was completely wrong in her claims about how much of Americ'as Energy Alaksa produces. (Based on her comments in the Charlie Gibson interview)

McCain-Palin Distorts Our Findingsgs -- FackCheck.org takes offense at McCain's misuse and abuse of Fact Check's website.

Off Base on Sex Ed -- Shows how McCain's utterly false and scurrilous claims about Obama are growing more and more absurd.

FactChecking McCaine -- Based on McCain's aceptance speech at the Republican National Convention. Notes how devoid the speech was of actual specifics and points out how almost every factual claim made by McCain was WRONG.

Maverick Misleads -- This post states, "a McCain ad comparing Palin to Obama isn't all above board."

GOP Convention Spin -- Highlights the lies about Obama in Senator Joe Liebermans' and Senator Fred Thompson's speeches.

GOP Convention Spin, Part 2 -- The RNC was so rife with unthruths, they had to do two posts about it! This one shines the light of truth on Palin, Giuliani and Huckabee.

A new Stitch in a Bad Pattern Characterizes McCain's claims about Obama's tax plan as "a pattern of deceipt."

FACT CHECKING DEMOCRATS
Education Misleads -- Points out a few stretches in an Obama ad criticizing McCain's proposals and record on education.

Hit the Brakes -- Points out Obama's selective memory when it comes to McCain's record on supporting the auto manufacturing industry.

FactChecking Obama "He stuck to the facts, except when he stretched them." (note from me: not the same thing as flat-out lying!)

Sliming Palin* -- *Not about Obama. Takes on the silly emails & blog posts floating around, although some claims are simply drawing conclusions on some scary truths (like Palin asking if she could ban books from the library, even though she never followed through on it after the emphatic NO came from the Librarian).

YEP! That's it -- Ten major shreds of the republicans and only four slight corrections about the democrats, one of which is about internet rumor mills, not Obama or any elected official in the democratic party! Pretty pathetic that the so-called liberal media isn't pointing this out to a public obviously too oblivious to see the truth staring them in the face.

Hurricane Ivan, a monster storm, spanning more than 600 miles, estimated to be nearly as big as the state of Texas, sped onto land, with the eye wall hitting Galveston. Official government warnings stated that anyone remaining in Galveston would, "face certain death." Power is already reported out to at least 1,000,000 households.

I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary is a friend of mine. Sarah Palin, YOU ARE NO HILLARY!

This is a real leader folks: the honorable senator from the great state of New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton! I love you Hillary. You are a true Goddess.

Senator Hillary Clinton in Tampa, Floria, encouraging her supporters in Florida to work hard for Barack Obama and the real change that Democrats can provide.

A tribute to Sarah PALIN

Appearing as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof, the Alaska Governor was visibly shaken by the heat of facing her first real interview without throngs of adoring fans cheering her on. And it wasn't pretty! Enjoy this rundown headlines and selected blurbs!

Associated Press - Palin tries to defend qualifications in interview

John McCain running mate Sarah Palin sought Thursday to defend her qualifications but struggled with foreign policy, unable to describe President Bush's doctrine of pre-emptive strikes against threatening nations and acknowledging she's never met a foreign head of state.

New York Times -- In First Big Interview, Palin Says, ‘I’m Ready’
At times visibly nervous, at others appearing to hew so closely to prepared answers that she used the exact same phrases repeatedly, Ms. Palin most visibly stumbled when she was asked by Mr. Gibson if she agreed with the Bush doctrine. Ms. Palin did not seem to know what he was talking about. Mr. Gibson, sounding like an impatient teacher, informed her that it meant the right of “anticipatory self-defense.”

The Los Angeles Times -- Sarah Palin's interview with Charles Gibson on ABC

Still, the inevitable parsing and analysis of Palin’s answers and performance in this interview, however tempting, is almost beside the point. In this case, her actions, or non-actions, have spoken much louder than any words. She didn’t blink, she told Gibson, when McCain asked her to join his ticket. But she certainly blinked after. What sort of reform-minded politician waits two weeks before giving an interview?

Boston Herald -- With Sarah Palin at the plate, Charlie Gibson throws hard

Gibson asked Palin if she agreed with the Bush doctrine and Palin appeared confused, and asked for clarification. “The Bush doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense,” Gibson said.

The doctrine, however, includes several other terrorism-related foreign policy principles of the administration formed in reaction to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Gibson asked he if she’s ever met a foreign head of state. “I have not,” Palin said.

He asked what insight into Russian actions “does the proximity of the state give you?”

Palin said “you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska.”

Editor & Publisher -- Press Reviews Palin Performance on ABC

"Asked whether she agreed with that, Palin said: 'In what respect, Charlie?' Gibson pressed her for an interpretation of it. She said: 'His world view.' That prompted Gibson to say 'no, the Bush doctrine, enunciated September 2002, before the Iraq war' and describe it to her."

BBC Online -- A little of real Palin revealed

Many questions were really left unanswered. Her religious beliefs were only briefly touched on. She clarified her earlier comments that suggested the Iraq war was ordained by God himself, talking instead about a plan for good and a reference to God-given rights. Enough not to alienate an agnostic, or to offend the evangelical vote.

In the end, this interview is unlikely to dramatically alter already strongly held perceptions.

Huffington Post -- Sarah Palin, The Bush Doctrine, and Why It's Smart To Be Dumb (Commentary)

I'm not saying that every American besides Governor Palin knows what the Bush Doctrine is. Hell, I wasn't sure I knew what it was until Charlie Gibson confirmed it for me. But then again, I'm not a Republican governor who's running for national office.

Now, if Joe Biden had said this on national TV, the election would be over. Obama would either be calling Hillary Clinton and begging her to take over the #2 slot or he'd be busy getting to work on his concession speech.

But these are the Republicans, they of vaunted attack machines and vast right-wing conspiracies. Masters of spin, purveyors of semi-libelous commercials, wizards of righteous indignation and instigators of class warfare. If Sarah Palin doesn't know what the Bush Doctrine is, well, my goodness, neither do a lot of hardworking, God-fearing hockey moms out there in the heartland. They don't have time to read those fancy city newspapers with lots of big words explaining the Bush Doctrine. They're not eggheads like Barack Obama and Joe Biden, those elitist intellectuals who sit around studying doctrines while raising taxes on hardworking Americans like you and me.

You think Governor Palin is going to waste her time reading books about the Bush Doctrine? No, she's busy with the responsibilities that come with being governor of the great state of Alaska. She's got moose to field-dress, bridges to nowhere to say "No" to, jets to sell on eBay. Maybe community organizers have the time to talk about the Bush Doctrine. But Sarah Palin's too busy trying to reform Washington. By way of Alaska.

The myth of the so-called liberal MEDIA!

Anyone who knows me IRL (that's In Real Life) is probably aware that it drives me absolutely bonkers when people regurgitate the fabricated right-wing talking point of the so-called liberal media. This pejorative and inaccurate term is used to marginalize many legitimate, factual news reports that have even a hint of possible criticism for a conservative politician. Never mind the truth(!) seems to be the right-wing mantra.

I could go on and on about why that's just so wrong, about how most major media conglomerates are owned by plutocrats or how legitimate news organizations (i.e. NOT Fox "News") have a wall to separate editorial policy from news, but why should I when so many people with far more time and talent than I, have already done it so well ...

Hmmmm ... Since the whole country is now abuzz about "ethics reform" and "standing up to the status quo," why don't we create regulations on social mixing between the media (which is supposed to be the watch guard for the public) and elected officials???

As Colonel Robert McCormick, the famous late publisher of the conservative bastion, The Chicago Tribune, carved into the lobby of the Tribune Tower, [quoting Richard Brinsley Sheridan]

“Give me but the liberty of the press and I will give to the minister a venal House of Peers. I will give him a corrupt and servile House of Commons. I will give him the full swing of the patronage of office. I will give him the whole host of ministerial influence. I will give him all the power that place can confer upon him to purchase up submission and overawe resistance: and yet, armed with the liberty of the press, I will go forth to meet him undismayed. I will attack the mighty fabric of that mightier engine. I will shake down from its height corruption and bury it beneath the ruins of the abuses it was meant to shelter.”

Trooper Gate - Local Alaska coverage. You decide!

Barack Obama, the community organizer, is the MAN!

So far I've focused this blog on about what's wrong-wrong-WRONG about McCain & Palin. There's just so much there to work with. Don't worry. I have more of the same, but I realized that Obama deserves a looot more attention than he's been getting lately.

This is a great example of why Barack Obama is the next President of the United States of America!

Look how unflinching Barack is when he talks. His face is serene and sincere. No dodging eyes. No fake smiles. No snear. Sincere smiling eyes!

Check out this website about "how to spot a liar," and then go watch some Barack, Palin & McCain vidoes. Compare and contrast. YOU bet the judge!

Palin used state funds to ask people to EVANGELIZE!

As reported in the Anchorage Daily News, Sarah Palin used state money to fund a trip to deliver an address at a Christian school, in which she read quotes from the bible and asked those in attendance to pray for a pipeline.

Gov. Sarah Palin used state funds in June when she traveled from Juneau to Wasilla to speak to graduating evangelical students and urge them to fan out through Alaska "to make sure God's will be done here."
Palin charged the state of Alaska for meals "and other expenses," for a trip to her home town, to the tune of $120. Air travel amounted to $519.50. She also attended a christian church conference during the trip.

But what's most troubling is that part of Palin's speech was to ask the crowd to spread the Christian faith!

"What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys as you go out throughout Alaska -- I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline." Palin said. "Pray about that also. I think God's will has to be done, in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that. But I can do my job there, in developing our natural resources, and doing things like getting the roads paved, making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded.

"But really, all of that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's hearts isn't right with God. And that's going to be your job," [Palin] said.

I thought Palin is supposed to be some sort of reformer? These are not the the actions of someone wishing to stop government corruption! This IS government corruption!

Even though the Wasilla Assembly of God (where Palin was baptized at age 12) took all their videos off-line, youtube has it! The worst part occurs between 1:25 and 1:47 in this clip.

I'm discontinuing the cone of silence series and here's WHY

I don't think it's helping to harp on this.

More importantly, I think there are stronger points to be made in favor of Obama and against McCain.

Although, before I close this chapter, I would like to point out that Dan Quayle had his first interviews the very night of his nomination.

While delegates milled about on the floor of the Louisiana Superdome, Mr. Quayle made the rounds of the network anchor booths in an orchestrated effort to make a good first impression on the millions of Americans who had never seen him before.

I look forward to watching Palin's first interview on ABC.

I especially look forward to the Vice Presidentail Debate on Thursday, October 2, 2008, 8pm central.

This just in: Republican heads spin right OFF!

In a typical round of republican double-standards and double-speak, Republicans spun back and forth at such dizzying speed that their heads spun right off their necks! The centrifical force was so great, that the heads were catapulted into orbit around the earth. Americans are warned to watch out for falling talking heads!

Luckly, Jon Stewart caught it on tape and aired it on The Daily Show. See for yourself, in these two clips.

And what about McCain claiming he'd "change" things (compared with W)? Watch as more heads pop right off as little bunny foo-foo bops them on the head!

Sarah Palin Cone of Silence DAY NINE (9)

It's now been NINE days since Sarah Palin has spoken with any reporters, taken any questions, been interviewed or said anything other than scripted talking points to supporters at official campaign rallies.

Palin is not even scheduled to appear on the Right-Wing mouthpiece Fox "News," which will instead be airing a documentary about the Alaska governor.

There are unverified claims that Palin is going to be interviewed next week by ABC's Charlie Gibson. But John McCain's chief campaign manager, Rick Davis (lobbyist for foreign intersts and linked to the Russian mafia) reportedly whined,

“Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children?” Davis said. “So until at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment.”

Translation: Waaaah! Waaah! The media are a bunch of bad guys!

What would happen if Palin were thrust into the presidency, and she had to deal with Russia (a country she's never set foot in, and whose leader she's never met or even talked to on the phone), Iran, China, Pakistan, or North Korea? Do you think they're going to sit around and wait for her to feel "comfortable" before she handles the matter?

Meanwhile, Palin's right-wing handlers are doing their best to block the door of access and cover up Palin's inability to appear before cameras, even though one would think that her degree in journalism should have prepared her to handle the press.

I want to see Palin on the Daily Show! If Palin really has the mettle to be one heartbeat away from leading the Free World, she should be able to handle Jon Stewart just fine! Remember, Palin admonished Hillary when Hillary bristled at actual mud-slinging and lies. Now Palin is being sheltered from the media to avoid honest questions about her inexperience and the official investigation into her thuggish-style of governing.

Sarah Palin can talk the talk, but can she walk the walk? Only time will tell...

HOW MANY DAYS TIL THE VP DEBATE? She'll have to come up for air then, I guess. Can't wait!

McCain Campaign steals flags from Obama -- Is McCain running out of MONEY?

UPDATE; I've gotten several off-blog comments, so let me state for the record. No, I don't really believe McCain is running out of money. I was just parodying the right wing that would have spread a viral email about Obama making an equally outrageous claim.  See the comments section for another point I make about the liklihood this is really rooted in an innocent misunderstanding, although the republicans ran with it presenting rumors and innuendos as fact. Apparently McCain does not have the good graces to apologize.

Just when you think John McCain and Sarah Palin can't sink any lower, a report surfaces that McCain's campaign STOLE thousands of American flags from the Obama campaign after the DNC in Denver. Nicole Pitney on HuffingtonPost reports:

UPDATE II: Another statement from the Democratic National Convention Committee: "Stories circulating about flags at the Democratic National Convention are false. We distributed more than 125,000 American made flags at the Convention - the flags removed from Invesco field were intended for other events and taken without permission. It's disappointing that someone would take American flags without authorization and then falsely describe how they were being used. We have the utmost respect for the American flag, and it's sad to see them being used for a cheap political stunt." [emphasis mine]

You can see that the flags were carefully rolled up and stored for future use.

The clock is ticking while the country waits for McCain to not only return the flags that he stole from Obama, but also to issue an apology and provide an explanation about why the McCain camp put out slanderous press reports falsely clamiing the flags were "rescued" from the garbage, when, in fact, the flags were stolen. Even if it was a misunderstanding, McCain should be a man, fess up and acknowledge that his guard dogs overstepped the rhetoric and went waaay over the line!

And while we wait, maybe McCain can also explain why he used FAKE SOLDIERS and STAGED A SOLDIER'S FUNERAL in a video for the RNC! As reported by CBS news:

CBS News found that the footage of the ‘funeral’ and soldiers is what is called ‘stock’ footage. The soldiers were actors and the funeral scene was from a one-day film shoot, produced in June. No real soldiers were used during production.

At least one veterans group finds this offensive and questions the authenticity of other parts of the RNC video:

“What it does reveal is a serious lack of understanding and a lack of personal connection to the military,” said Paul Rieckhoff, Executive Director of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

Rieckhoff, who is at the convention with a contingent of veterans added that a video tribute to Medal of Honor winner Michael Monsoor, a Navy Seal killed in Iraq, shown on Tuesday night, used combat video that appeared to him and several other veterans of the Iraq war to have been staged.

Lie down with dogs, get up with FLEAS

Preamble: I know some republicans are fond of pointing to Obama's previous fellow board member or former pastor, both of whom have absolutely nothing to do with Obama's campaign. What's more germane -- really -- is who's working on McCain's campaign. Right now. MORE THAN 50 LOBBYISTS RUN MCCAIN'S CAMPAIGN.

John McCain claims to be a "maverick". He tries to paint himself as separate from the Washington elite. But nothing could be further from the truth!

In this interesting article about Barack Obama's bringing truth to light, Obama Takes First Hard Hit ... Obama hits the nail right on the head! Not only is Obama correct about Palin's hypocrisy, but he zeros in directly on McCain's complete and utter lies.

“[McCain] says, ‘I’m going to tell those lobbyists that their days in Washington are over.’ Who’s he going to tell? Is he going to tell his campaign chairman who’s one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he going to tell all the folks who are running his campaign who are the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington?

What's Obama talking about? Check it out. If you haven't looked at McCain's official campaign inner circle, prepare to be shocked!

Once again, one video is not enough to cover it all!

McCain and the "straight talk" MYTH

It amazes me that anyone actually believes McCain speaks truthfully. Ever. We all know pictures speak louder than words. So here is a video, with incontrovertible proof of what a liar John McCain actually is.

(How can anyone vote for this lying sack of crap? Seriously!)

McCain haas been lying to America for YEARS AND YEARS. Just one video wasn't enough to highlight all his lies.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! God Bless Tim Russert!!! He is sorely missed!!!

Sarah Palin Cone of Silence 7 days and counting....

One might think that a professional sports caster who holds a degree in journalism would feel comfortable talking with the media, but not Sarah Palin!

A big hat tip Shaun Mullen and his Palin and the Cone of Silence Watch: Day 7:

It has been seven days since vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been allowed to say anything in a public setting that is not carefully scripted or controlled. No interviews. No taking questions from the news media. Palin has read one prepared statement twice and delivered an address written by George Bush's speechwriter.

This story originally broke on the Time Magazine blog, Swampland, by Jay Carney, in which he exposes McCain campain spokesperson, Nicole Wallace's defensive cover up:

Wallace's bash-the-media exercise has its merits as a campaign tactic. It certainly rallies the base. But the base won't lift McCain to 50% in November. More importantly, in her smug dismissal of the media's role in asking questions of the candidates, Wallace was really showing contempt not for reporters, but for voters. I bet there are a lot of undecided voters out there who were intrigued by Sarah Palin last night, but who don't yet know enough about her -- what she believes, what she knows -- to be comfortable with the idea of her as vice president of the United States. It's important to them to know if Palin can handle herself in an environment that isn't controlled and sanitized by campaign image makers and message mavens. Maybe she can, maybe she can't. As far as Wallace is concerned, it's none of their -- or your -- business.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. I feel so badly for you! You are in for a rude awakening.

How many days until the VP debate?
