In a desperate attempt to keep the American public from noticing all that's wrong about McCain, Palin, and their campaign, John McCain has launched more cluster bombs of lie-filled sleaze (otherwise known as attack ads).
Don't take my word for it, that these McCain ads are full of bullhockey! Visit FactCheck.org for a thorough analysis (or see my links below for a quick reference).
For those unfamiliar with this webiste, FactCheck.org is widely acknowledged as providing an impartial, accurate analysis of hot-button issues, especially claims asserted in political campaigns.
It's interesting to note, not only the much larger number of criticisms of McCain-Palin on FactCheck.org, but also the much stronger language and near condemnation of McCain's bold-faced lies compared with the smaller number and milder language used when they look at Obama's ads and speeches.
FactCheck.org seemed most offended by the misuse of their own website in a McCain ad, and took him to task stating, in a Sept 10, 2008 post titled "McCain-Palin Distorts Our Finding":
With its latest ad, released Sept. 10, the McCain-Palin campaign has altered our message in a fashion we consider less than honest. The ad strives to convey the message that FactCheck.org said "completely false" attacks on Gov. Sarah Palin had come from Sen. Barack Obama. We said no such thing. We have yet to dispute any claim from the Obama campaign about Palin. (emphasis mine)
By contrast, Factcheck.org found a much smaller number of twists or omissions coming from Obama's campaign and ads, and use milder description such as "stretching the truth." Here too all the political posts on FactCheck.org since the conventions:
FACT CHECKING REPUBLICANS
Belitting Paline? -- a sharp look at the falsehoods in McCain's ad erroneously claiming Obama called Palin a pig w/lipstick.
Corsi's Dull Hatchet -- Completely rips to shreds a book mud-slinging Obama. This book should be reshelved in the Fiction section.
Energetically Wrong -- Explains how and why Palin was completely wrong in her claims about how much of Americ'as Energy Alaksa produces. (Based on her comments in the Charlie Gibson interview)
McCain-Palin Distorts Our Findingsgs -- FackCheck.org takes offense at McCain's misuse and abuse of Fact Check's website.
Off Base on Sex Ed -- Shows how McCain's utterly false and scurrilous claims about Obama are growing more and more absurd.
FactChecking McCaine -- Based on McCain's aceptance speech at the Republican National Convention. Notes how devoid the speech was of actual specifics and points out how almost every factual claim made by McCain was WRONG.
Maverick Misleads -- This post states, "a McCain ad comparing Palin to Obama isn't all above board."
GOP Convention Spin -- Highlights the lies about Obama in Senator Joe Liebermans' and Senator Fred Thompson's speeches.
GOP Convention Spin, Part 2 -- The RNC was so rife with unthruths, they had to do two posts about it! This one shines the light of truth on Palin, Giuliani and Huckabee.
A new Stitch in a Bad Pattern Characterizes McCain's claims about Obama's tax plan as "a pattern of deceipt."
FACT CHECKING DEMOCRATS
Education Misleads -- Points out a few stretches in an Obama ad criticizing McCain's proposals and record on education.
Hit the Brakes -- Points out Obama's selective memory when it comes to McCain's record on supporting the auto manufacturing industry.
FactChecking Obama "He stuck to the facts, except when he stretched them." (note from me: not the same thing as flat-out lying!)
Sliming Palin* -- *Not about Obama. Takes on the silly emails & blog posts floating around, although some claims are simply drawing conclusions on some scary truths (like Palin asking if she could ban books from the library, even though she never followed through on it after the emphatic NO came from the Librarian).
YEP! That's it -- Ten major shreds of the republicans and only four slight corrections about the democrats, one of which is about internet rumor mills, not Obama or any elected official in the democratic party! Pretty pathetic that the so-called liberal media isn't pointing this out to a public obviously too oblivious to see the truth staring them in the face.
